Food pairings

Standard

Ever think about how you think certain foods go well together or not? I think it’s very much determined by where you live.
Let’s start with the good.

Cinnamon rolls and chili. My elementary school always served this combo and the pairing is delightful.

Pasta and eggs. Carbonara is one of the greatest meals for anytime of the day

Cocoa or peanut butter with anything. I have made savory dishes with cocoa powder, as well as many stir fry meals with peanut butter and of course my fair share of sweets with these two.

The bad (in my opinion)

Sausage and syrup. This goes back to school lunches again.  We used to have sausages wrapped in pancakes (like a corn dog) that were dipped in syrup. Blech.

Nuts in dessert. Whether it is ice cream, cake, muffins. Not a fan.

In other news, it’s almost Valentine’s Day and Fifty Shades of Grey is getting way too much attention.  I admit, I read the first book because girls at my work were raving about it.  I couldn’t get past the terrible writing and really didn’t see what all the hype was about.  Now, there are gifts to give your sweetie in regards to this book.

I hope this fad is over soon.

Moving on.

After hearing that we got a Tom & Chee, I needed to see what all the hype was about.  I went with the original sandwich with the soup.

The problem I had with it was that by the time you got the sandwich, the cheese wasn’t gooey anymore which is by far the best part of a grilled cheese!
